Antique Silver Pocket Watch Chain & Silver Coin Georgius 11 1780s
This quality item has now been posted on ebay, please see the right hand column and click the item description to bid, it’s just starting at 99p – so grab a bargain.
I’m offering before placing onto eBay a antique solid silver pocket watch chain, each link is hallmarked as is the silver clip, and a silver coin of Georgius 11. The chain measures 13.5″ and weighs 34 grams, it is in excellent condition with no silver link repairs.
The Georgius 11 silver coin is pretty worn, it also has been spot welded to a silver clip, I’ve looked up some details of Georgius the 11 and it seems this is a Shilling dating around 1743, it’s The older portrait of King George II, introduced in 1743. The marks are roses on the reverse angles, representing silver mined in the West of England.
The wording on the coin means the following
GEORGIVS II DEI GRATIA is George II by the Grace of God
date (1727 to 1760) ·M·B·F·ET· H·REX·F·D·B· ET·L·D·S·R·I· A·T·ET·E· which means : King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Lunenburg, Arch Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire.
That’s as much as I know and can establish, I’m open to offers for this silver chain and coin of around £75.00 delivered free to the U.K. If interested please email me at: canrun10k@aol.com and place silver chain and coin in the description field.
