Vintage Hallmarked Silver Pickle Forks
For sale two very nice vintage hallmarked silver forks, I think they are both pickle forks. I will describe both…
The large fork is hallmarked and dated 1897 and assayed Sheffield, the makers mark is W. & H. that is Walker & Hall. As you can see it’s in very good condition, and has a lovely shape and engraved design, it is 18cm long and weighs 43 grams.
The smaller fork only measures 13.5 cm long and weighs just under 17 grams, it is nicely decorated and shaped. The dating is a problem, the hallmarks clearly show assayed in Sheffield with the makers mark A.H. which according to my marks book, is for Aaron Hadfield or Ashforth & Harthorn. The marks show the queens head in a round sheild, and the crown in a square sheild, but no date letter. I would date this around the 1840′s, I’ve taken a picture that clearly shows the marks, so you can draw your own conclusion.
